Good Guys Golf and Autism Connections drive inclusion through the game

What began as a simple idea has blossomed into a meaningful partnership between Autism Connections and Good Guys Golf, built on shared values of inclusion, community and opportunity.

Good Guys Golf is an indoor simulator facility in New Brunswick that strives to make golf more accessible and welcoming for children of all abilities.

Since early February, Good Guys Golf has run an initiative called “First Tee Fridays”, where $1 from every mini-putt round on Fridays directly supports First Tee – Atlantic. What started as a small act of generosity quickly grew into something much larger.

Thanks to Good Guys Golf, funds raised through First Tee Fridays were used to purchase a First Tee equipment kit for Autism Connections, bringing the game directly to the organization’s participants.

The commitment didn’t stop there. Facility owners Ben Black and Rob Johnson went a step further, completing First Tee coach training and leading a summer program at Fredericton Golf Club designed specifically for children with autism — many were Autism Connections members.

The collaboration has created a lasting impact both on and off the course, fostering confidence, connection, and joy through golf.

Autism Connections’ mission is to empower individuals with or without a formal diagnosis of autism by providing tailored support, resources and opportunities. The organization’s belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive aligns closely with First Tee’s commitment to helping young people build character and resilience through golf.

Most recently, Autism Connections completed its first indoor golf program, made possible through partnerships with local schools and community volunteers. The organization takes First Tee’s resources and adapts them even further to ensure that every participant feels supported and set up for success.

As the partnership continues to grow, both Good Guys Golf and Autism Connections remain committed to building bridges across communities, working with all-abilities groups and driving forward a shared mission: making golf a game everyone can enjoy.
