Golf Canada Foundation
The Golf Canada Foundation is the leading source for golf philanthropy in Canada, and is very proud of a record $1.5 million in 2019 grants which brings our total to more than $8.9 million since 2012, and $10.3 million invested in the sport since the Foundation’s inception in 1979. PGA TOUR First Tee Foundation (“First Tee”)
First Tee (www.firsttee.org) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit youth development organization under the umbrella of PGA TOUR Inc. Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character and instill life-changing values through the game of golf. Since its inception in 1997, First Tee has expanded to reach more than 3.6 million young people annually on golf courses, in schools and at youth centers. Its headquarters are in St. Augustine, Florida, USA with programs in all 50 United States and select international locations. President George W. Bush serves as Honorary Chair.
PGA of Canada
Established in 1911, the PGA of Canada is the second oldest and third largest professional golf association in the world. The PGA of Canada is a non-profit Association comprised of 3,600 golf professionals across the country. The Association’s mandate is to develop, promote and support our Members as experts in the game and business of golf, and, in so doing, serve both its Members’ needs and those of the golfing public through the Association’s varied programs and events. The R&A
Based in St Andrews, The R&A runs The Open, elite amateur events, international matches and rankings. Together The R&A and the USGA govern the sport of golf worldwide, operating in separate jurisdictions but sharing a commitment to a single code for the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status and Equipment Standards. The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs the sport worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, on behalf of over 36 million golfers in 143 countries and with the consent of 156 organizations from amateur and professional golf. Golf New Brunswick (Golf NB), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1934, is the official governing body for amateur golf in New Brunswick. In January of 2006, the New Brunswick Golf Association (NBGA) officially merged with the New Brunswick Ladies Golf Association (NBLGA), resulting in one united governing body for amateur golf in the province. Programs offered by Golf NB to its 46 partner facilities and over 7,500 individual members include: provincial championships, rules of golf education, course rating and handicap services, and junior golf development programs. The Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA) is the governing body of golf in Nova Scotia, representing approximately 15,000 members and 58 partner facilities across the province. Founded in 1930, the NSGA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and serves to preserve and promote the game of golf in Nova Scotia. Recognized by Sport Nova Scotia as the Provincial Sport Organization, the NSGA’s mission is to develop the future of golf in Nova Scotia while upholding the traditions of the game.
The NSGA conducts multiple sport development programs and services for its members, and partner facilities, including grassroots to high-performance programming, rules, handicapping, and course rating training and implementation as well as multiple provincial championships annually. The PEI Golf Association is the governing body of amateur golf in Prince Edward Island. It determines Provincial policies and, in conjunction with Golf Canada, sets standards relating to the game on behalf of its members. In addition to conducting PEI’s Provincial Amateur Championships, the PEIGA also conducts junior development programs, operates a club exchange program for deserving juniors, course/slope rates member courses, provides handicap services and rules clinics, facilitates introductory programs, and many other services to amateur golfers and member clubs.
Golf Newfoundland and Labrador Inc. is the non-profit Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) vested with the responsibility to develop the sport of golf in the province and to market the provincial golf product to resident and non-resident golfers. The major goal of the organization is to “grow the game” through the development and implementation of its programs, services, and initiatives throughout the province.
